A 24-Year-Old Writes, Directs, and Stars in His Own Story
SELF-MEDICATED

Monty Lapica was 24 years old when he wrote, directed, and starred in the autobiographical indy film Self-Medicated, winner of 38 international film festival awards (the most awarding-winning indy in 2006). The film is R rated for drug use and profanity but, importantly, its despair ends with faith and redemption.  When Lapica was 17 and his father died, his life nosedived into drugs. Desperate and battling her own addiction, his mother hired a private company to kidnap and confine him in an adolescent hospital.  Lapica's film chronicles his rebellious drug use, time in the institution, and the breakdown into prayer as the beginning of his path out.

Lovell-Fairchild helped the very scrappy Lapica get his show on the road to an amazing 15-city run.
