Born in 1981, Christer Tepper began violin studies at age 3 and gave his first
performance a year later. In early violin training his studies with artists and
professors at universities and colleges across Canada included scholarships to
the Young Artist Performance Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music in
Toronto where he studied primarily with Joan Barrett. Completing his scholarship
with Oleh Krysa at the renowned Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.,
Christer moved to Germany under the mentorship of Rudolf Gaehler, studying
violin both there and in Italy. He has also studied with Martin Beaver, Pinchas
Zukerman, David Cerone, Sally Thomas, Dr. Lise Elson and Jose Luis Garcia.
Besides taking honors at music competitions, Christer appeared many times on
CBC radio, on television and in recordings. Since 1994, he’s led programs in
more than 2,000 concert halls, churches, embassies, schools, universities and
conferences—across Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia.
As a world-class violinist, Christer stays in demand as a solo artist at leading
concert halls worldwide. His commitment to telling stories with music, and his
belief, however, also take him to churches, faith conferences and Christian
events. In his highly original style, Christer plays as film behind him turns music
into visual stories.
